Overview

The legendary Bulgarian bar with dancing has reopened on Ludlow street. There's nowhere else quite like it.

History

Still nowhere else quite like it

Mehanata, also known as the Bulgarian Bar and 416 B.C., began on Canal Street1, 2. In 2006 it reopened at 113 Ludlow Street under Ilhan, who set it apart from the old Mehanata on Canal2. Time Out noted that an authentic Bulgarian meal starts with a glass of rakia and a salad1. It is still there, with a sub-zero vodka drinking room and two floors of goth, industrial and 80s dance parties3, 4.
