Overview

The late great International Bar has risen from the ashes. Christmas tree lights, tin ceilings, cheap drinks, and the juke box to end all juke boxes. It was the last great E. Village bar and it's back to reclaim its throne.
The late great International Bar has risen from the ashes. Christmas tree lights, tin ceilings, cheap drinks, and the juke box to end all juke boxes. It was the last great E. Village bar and now it's back. The only question now is if it can pick up where it left off in a neighborhood which has changed so much in its absence.

History

Risen from the ashes, then down the avenue

The International reopened in June 20081, and our listing greeted it like a resurrection: Christmas tree lights, tin ceilings, cheap drinks and the jukebox to end all jukeboxes, the last great East Village bar back to reclaim its throne. The throne turned out to be portable. In November 2017 the bar left 120 1/2 First Avenue for 102 First Avenue2, and in July 2024 EV Grieve had it open there from 10am to 4am daily3.
