Same bar, now The Grafton

Checked October 15, 2026.

Overview

This big, clean, well lit Irish bar has one of the best pints of Guinness in the city. A good place for big groups, for watching the footie or rugby, or just to just relax with a friend and play a game of Jenga.

History

Same pub, easier name

Lunasa was a big, clean, well-lit Irish bar with, we thought, one of the best pints of Guinness in the city, and a good place for the footie, the rugby or a game of Jenga. In May 2015, after almost 12 years in the East Village, it became The Grafton, named after one of Dublin's most famous streets, and the place was to stay the same except for the name1. The explanation: "very few of you could pronounce the bloody name so you lot are partially responsible for its demise"1. The Grafton still opens early for football and rugby, so the footie survived the rename2.
