Its 2009 website billed it as the only full-time gay bar in Midtown East, in the shadow of the Chrysler Building and steps from "the sea of humanity that is Grand Central Terminal"1. By 2013, Time Out reported, weekday happy hours drew midtown office workers until 8pm, pianists played the lounge nightly, and parties and shows filled the place most evenings after that2. A 2014 history of Uncle Charlie's Downtown, a Greenwich Avenue bar that closed in 1997 and became an Irish pub, found the name still around at this piano bar but wasn't quite sure of its provenance3. This one is still on East 45th Street, where in 2026 a reviewer who hadn't been in a while was glad to see it "still entertaining the gay and after-work masses"4, 5.
Researched October 2026.
