Overview

As one of the few dive bars in an area ruthlessly homogenized by after work crowds this benign bar almost feels edgey in comparison. You can get a bucket of 5 Sam Adams for $15 and pount of wings for $10 and there are 22 TVs to catch the game on.

History

Bill Gallo on the left wall, the game everywhere else

Overlook was established in 20041. A year later its owners asked Bill Gallo, then in his 80s, and his buds to cover the left-hand side of the bar with illustrations2. When we listed it, it was one of the few dive bars in an area ruthlessly homogenized by after-work crowds, with buckets of Sam Adams, pounds of wings and twenty-two TVs to catch the game on.

The screens have multiplied since: over 30 high-definition TVs and two massive jumbotrons3. It's still at 225 East 44th Street, and it keeps the party going until 4am3.
