Brother Jimmy's (Grand Central)

109 E. 42nd St. · at Lexington Ave.
Midtown East, Manhattan

In 2026

Closed; now Hyatt Grand Central New York

Checked October 18, 2026.

Overview

Comfort food and cheap beer remain a winning recipe at all the locations of Brother Jimmy's. The locations are so similar if you drink enough of their infamous Swamp Water you just might forget which one you're at.

History

Now there are none to mix up

We once warned that the Brother Jimmy's branches were so alike that enough Swamp Water could make you forget which one you were in. This one, in Grand Central, has since closed1. So has every other Brother Jimmy's in the city, a chain James Goldman started on the Upper East Side more than 30 years earlier; the last appears to have closed for good on April 4, 20222.
