East Village outpost of Williamsburg's Alligator lounge offering a free pizza with every beer.

History

Every drink came with a pizza

The ground floor of 325 East 14th Street had been restaurants for years, Il Faro and, in the 1990s, Manila Garden among them1. In August 2006 the owners of Williamsburg's Capone's and Alligator Lounge brought their free-pizza shtick to Manhattan, opening Crocodile Lounge in the former home of the Cellar: order a drink, get a personal pizza2. Time Out called it the Alligator Lounge's kid sister3, and between the pizza, the skee-ball and the photo booth it drew a solid happy-hour crowd4.

It closed in the COVID shutdown of March 2020 and never reopened5. The four-story building went on the market in 2023 asking $5.5 million and sold in 2024 for $3.3 million, so even the building came with a discount1, 6. After a gut renovation, a spa opened on the top floor in April 2026, and the bar's old ground floor is still for lease4, 5, 7.
