A ten-year lease, then breakfast burritos

When we listed Pata Negra, it was the new Spanish wine and small-plates bar from Rafael Mateo, formerly the manager of Ostia, and it was closed Mondays. From July 31, 2017, it was closed the rest of the week too: Mateo said its 10-year lease had expired, and cited the cost of doing business and the changing East Village¹. By September 2025 Best Damn Breakfast Burrito had opened at 345 East 12th Street^{2, 3}.
