Overview

Comfortable and off the beaten track Lolita Bar is that rare Manhattan bar where you could almost imagine you were in Brooklyn.

History

Where Manhattan could almost pass for Brooklyn

Lolita Bar opened on Broome Street in 2001 and became a favorite of a young college crowd; in 2009 we called it the rare Manhattan bar where you could almost imagine you were in Brooklyn1. In February 2013 a sale to Matthew Kelly, the owner of Marshall Stack, was proposed2. On February 14 the NYPD issued a restraining order against the bar for serving alcohol to minors, the city sued it, and on February 26 Community Board 3's full board rescinded its committee's approval of the license tied to the sale2. The bar has since closed1.
