Overview

What better name for a new upscale wine and whisky bar in Carroll Gardens than JakeWalk - the semi-paralytic walk caused by imbibing bad bootleg booze. Boasting an impressive 50 wines by the glass, 120 varieties of whisky, and 20 cured meats this attractive and dimly lit bar is taking a shot at the title for Carroll Garden's go to date spot.

History

From twenty cured meats to a butcher shop

The JakeWalk opened its doors in 2008 at 282 Smith Street, on the corner of Sackett1. We admired the name, after the semi-paralytic walk that bad bootleg booze brings on, and counted fifty wines by the glass, a hundred and twenty whiskies and twenty cured meats. Owner Patrick Watson said he had decided not to renew the lease, and the bar set its last night for October 21, 20161, 2. The corner still trades in meat: 282 Smith Street is now Atlantic Halal Meat, a butcher shop3.
