Overview

Sure, the faux Roman columns at this popular after work spot help lend it a certain classical feel, but it's when you try and vie for the attentions of the bartender at the fifty foot long bar that you really feel like you're at the Roman forum.

History

From faux Rome to bacon

Forum was a lavish, L-shaped lounge in the old Pop Burger space, with white columns, banquettes and a 50-foot bar where office workers drank Brooklyn Lager pints1. The columns were faux Roman; the crush for the bartender's attention, we said at the time, was the real thing. The Royal, a sports bar, replaced it in January 2013, and by April 2016 a for-rent sign was in its window2. BarBacon, a bacon-themed bar and restaurant, opened there in September 2018, and by December 2020 it sat shuttered3, 4.
