Overview

There's almost always a wait for one of the 30 tables at this popular downtown pool hall. There's a bar that can actually make a Mojito. The tables have decent surfaces, the sticks are almost all straight and there's plenty of space to work.

History

A pool hall, followed by a pool hall

Our listing was still promising a wait for one of its 30 tables in 2009, but Corner Billiards had left 110 East 11th Street by September 20061. Amsterdam Billiards & Bar, an Upper West Side pool hall founded in 1989 by the comedian David Brenner and the brothers Greg and Ethan Hunt, was due to take over the space that winter, planning a complete remodel that would keep the 30-foot zinc bar added in 20031, 2. It's there now, at Fourth Avenue, as Amsterdam Billiards Club: 25 Brunswick tables in 11,000 square feet, most of it under plush, ornate carpet3, 4.
