Overview

A converted synagogue is now home to one of the most unique bars in the city. A hexagonal bar, stained glass, and a friggin tree right in the middle of the place make for an interesting cocktail spot to say the least.

History

From bottle service to wedding vows

Deity opened in 2005 in a former synagogue, as a velvet-rope, bottle-service nightclub on a formerly forgotten strip of Atlantic Avenue1. Our old listing was more taken with the hexagonal bar, the stained glass and, as we put it, the friggin tree right in the middle of the place. In 2009 owners Caio and Kristine Dunson turned the main room into a supper club1. Now it's an events venue: one couple married there in October 2025, and the three-story art deco building at 368 Atlantic Avenue has its calendar open for intimate celebrations2, 3.
