Overview

A candlelit wine bar that also boasts a good selection of craft beers. For such a low key environment it frequently has a bustling scene particularly afterwork.

History

Still looking for another room

Anotheroom spent 26 years at 249 West Broadway, a little speakeasy just south of Tribeca Park1, 2. Our old review called it a candlelit wine bar with a good selection of craft beers. In 2017 The Infatuation put it more plainly: it's just really dark in here, and they only serve wine and beer3.

In December 2024 a developer bought the 4,650-square-foot site for $18 million4. In July 2025 the plan was a move to 141 West Broadway, just south of the Odeon, and Anotheroom closed at its old address later that year2, 4, 5. By March 2026 plans for a condo project at 249 West Broadway were on file with the Department of Buildings4.

By April 2026 the plan had shifted to Washington and Vestry, where Community Board 1's licensing committee approved a liquor license for a space of nearly 1,100 square feet2, 6. Then the landlord gave the lease to the men's workout line Ten Thousand7. Owner Craig Weiss is still looking for a new home for the bar7.
