History

Brick-oven pizza, and a band on the roof

In the summer of 2012, loud live music had the neighbors on Kingsland Avenue stumped, until they followed the sound down the block1. It was coming from The Place, a bar with brick-oven pizza that was also an outdoor rooftop music venue1. The address later became Kingsland, a room for 100 to 150 people that opened around 2016 or 2017, became known for metal, hardcore and punk, and held its last confirmed show on August 31, 20242, 3. The space has since been advertised for lease2.
