History
Greenpoint's old corner bar, brought back by Greenpoint
The corner on the edge of McGolrick Park has held a bar as far back as the 1920s: the beloved Palace Cafe, and a string of others1, 2. Before the Ryan family took over the Palace Cafe in 1956, it was Flanagan's2, and by the end it had been a local favorite for more than 80 years1.
The Palace Cafe was set to close for good on September 3, 20162. "For good" lasted until 2018, when Greenpoint locals bent on preserving its history revived it as The Palace1, 3.
It's still at 206 Nassau Avenue3, with karaoke on Wednesdays, DJs on weekends and bingo at least once a month3.
