Overview

Carved wood panels, persian rugs, candelabras and a sandstone fireplace all collaborate to create a regal Victorian atmosphere. Too bad this bar's technically for hotel guests only.

Now available as a corkscrew

Back then we admired its carved wood panels, Persian rugs, candelabras and sandstone fireplace, and grumbled that the bar was technically for hotel guests only. The lobby bar is still going: "Bring the Bowery bar home," says the hotel's shop, which sells a black waiter's corkscrew with The Bowery Hotel logo in red that "makes every bottle feel like a night at the lobby bar"1. No word on whether the corkscrew is for hotel guests only.
