History
Galas where the tellers used to be
Cipriani 42nd Street is a party in a bank1. The building at 110 East 42nd Street went up between 1921 and 19231, 2, and its facade and banking hall were made New York City landmarks in 19961. In January 1999 Cipriani finalized the deal to turn the ground-floor banking room into a restaurant and upscale event space1.
It's still there and still booked: Cipriani says the room continues to attract high-profile corporate events, banquets and gala receptions2, and in April 2026 it hosted the annual Greek Independence Gala3. Not bad for a room built to count money.
