History

Last call in 2023, another round in 2024

When we listed it, we said it had all the right ingredients for a Columbia student hangout: cheap drinks, booth seating, pool and darts. It had opened in 1994 and become a staple for Columbia students and locals alike¹.

The bar closed in August 2023, over problems that included being unable to pay both the rent and its distributors². That December an Instagram post announced new owners and brand-new management², and 1020 reopened in 2024¹.

By October 2024 it was packed Wednesday through Saturday nights³. It's back on the northwest corner of 110th Street and Amsterdam Avenue¹, opening daily at 4pm¹, which by college standards is an early start.
