History

Closed for a high-rise that's still a hole

Raccoon Lodge was originally set to close in January 2016, when its building on Warren Street was slated to be demolished for a new high-rise1. It held on until June 30, closing after last call, and a staffer said the bar had no plans to move1. Eater's closing-night report had owner Ace Nowara bringing in barbecue from his Croton-on-Hudson restaurant, Memphis Mae's BBQ Bistro1. HAP Investment Developers started construction in early 2017 and stopped in 2019, and in July 2026 the old home of the Raccoon Lodge and Mariachi's was still what it had been since at least 2016: a hole in the ground2.
