History
Still joy in Mudville, minus the 9
The Schwimmer family, whose Tribeca roots go back four generations to a paper and twine stall in the old Washington Market, opened Mudville 9 on Chambers Street in 19771. Eric Schwimmer took it over in 20021, and in 2010 Time Out said to come for the 99-label beer list and stay for the chicken2. In January 2021, after 43 years on the street, it was still plugging along, helped by the fact that Schwimmer owns the real estate1, 3. It has since shortened its name to plain Mudville, still at 126 Chambers Street4, 5.
