History

Beth Orton played first; the shows go on

Beth Orton played the very first show at Pete's Candy Store¹. It opened in 1999¹, in a storefront at 709 Lorimer Street that has been in operation since the 1920s¹, and it was Pete Caruso who named the spot Pete's Candy Store¹.

By the time of our old listing it drew crowds with nightly events: a trivia night, a backyard barbecue, a spelling bee. Twenty-seven years after it opened, it still has shows on the calendar^{1, 2}.
