A bar since 1908, and still up late
317 East Houston Street, at Attorney, has been a bar since 1908, and as of 2012 it had been one without a break1, 2, 3. Our old listing called the Parkside one of the few bars left where the spirit of the old Lower East Side endured, famous for its weekend liquor brunch, its long happy hour and its Parksize pints.
Christopher Lee started tending bar there in 2003 and became co-owner with Karen Waltermire in 20092. In June 2012 a campaign to raise $10,000 to replace the back-room stage, upgrade the sound system and add a second bar in the performance space was down to its final four days1. By March 2016 the back room had been renovated, with a brand-new bar2.
It's open late seven days a week3. On Sunday, February 15, 2026, the back room hosted Hot For You, billed as "a backroom disco for the family," at 10 at night4. The spirit of the old Lower East Side, it turns out, keeps late hours.
