Overview

This hotel bar and lounge isn't a bad option if you're in the area. The lounge isn't a scene, and the ambience crystal chandeliers, chalkboard walls, and couches with throws and pillows is comfortable enough if a bit of a style misfire.

History

In Times Square, the weekend never closes

When we listed the Paramount Bar, we found the lounge comfortable enough, if a bit of a style misfire. The hotel around it had opened in 1928 with 600 rooms¹.

In 2009 the hotel's bar was Bar 46 Athletic Club, a sports bar with Italian furniture and a soccer-club color scheme that one critic thought more Marriott than Paramount, and it never caught on². A preview of the new Paramount Bar, due to open officially on April 12, 2011, thought it might do the trick².

The hotel is now Paramount Times Square, a Generator Hotel, still at 235 West 46th Street³, and it has a Paramount Bar³. On Saturdays and Sundays the bar is open 24 hours³, which in Times Square counts as keeping up.
