History

From saloon to bookstore, by way of sidewalk sales

For twenty years, until 2001, the corner of Montague and Henry streets was home to the Montague Street Saloon¹. By November 2004 Fishs Eddy was holding sidewalk sales ahead of opening a store in the former saloon¹. Housing Works also passed through, and by July 2022 Books Are Magic had signed a lease at 122 Montague and started building a bookstore². Our listing outlived the saloon by years.
