History

Eleven years of experiments, then condos

We used to say a meal here would shatter your preconceptions and leave you wanting more. Chef Wylie Dufresne opened WD-50 at 50 Clinton Street on April 9, 2003, and the experiments ran for eleven years^{1, 2}.

The end came by way of real estate: the restaurant was closing because a developer planned a new building on the site¹. It closed on November 30, 2014¹.

In 2016 a seven-story building of 37 condominiums was finished on the site³.
