Overview

Behind a forbidding unmarked door helps keep the weekend hordes away from this candlelit DJ dive. A 2-1 happy hour til 10pm keeps the locals happy and anxious to keep their secret.

History

The dive that Death & Co reopened

151 opened in a basement on Rivington Street in 2002 and became a divey refuge for musicians, artists and writers1. The door was unmarked and the two-for-one happy hour ran till ten, and the regulars, we noted at the time, liked it that way. In 2014 the people behind Death & Co reopened it with light renovations and an overhauled drink menu1, 2. Since 2022 the basement has been Lullaby, a new bar from a new team, and it still puts on live music3, 4, 5.
