History
Thirty years of jazz, then dim sum
Cleopatra's Needle, a jazz club and restaurant on Broadway between 92nd and 93rd Streets, closed in December 2019 after 30 years1. The goodbye read "With a Heavy Heart, We Say Goodbye," and the explanation given was "the accumulation of rent, city business assault and a change in the neighborhood"1. The space at 2485 Broadway was then demolished, in West Side Rag's words, incredibly quickly2. In September 2025 Dim Sum Sam, part of the Cantonese chain Dim Sum Palace, opened at the address3.
