History
Fire, a new owner and a borrowed breakfast
We knew Fred's as a popular brunch spot with a corner patio and a full bar. In April 2020, days after it announced it would close temporarily, a fire tore through the restaurant1. Its owners, Dave Honor and Kimberly Evans, said the fire damaged the main dining room but spared the kitchen1.
In June 2022 the Amsterdam Avenue mainstay got a new owner: Jeremy Wladis, a veteran West Side restaurateur who lives on the Upper West Side, came to an agreement with Honor and bought it2.
Fred's is still at 476 Amsterdam Avenue, and it now serves another restaurant's breakfast: Good Enough to Eat's, weekdays from 8 am3. Many of Good Enough to Eat's staff have moved over too3.
