Shanghai decadence, now called Pen Top

Our old review had the Peninsula's roof deck shooting for Shanghai-in-the-thirties decadence and not falling far from the mark. In January 2024 the hotel began a property-wide refurbishment, and by that September what was formerly Salon de Ning had reopened as Pen Top^{1, 2, 3}. Pen Top still sits on the roof of the Peninsula at 700 Fifth Avenue, reached by its own dedicated lift and open from 5pm, Tuesday to Saturday⁴.
