History

Opened by a prime minister, no less

The Fitzpatrick Manhattan Hotel opened in 1991¹. On Thursday, September 25, 2008, Taoiseach Brian Cowen was on hand to officially open its newly renovated lobby and bar². For all that ceremony, we called the bar a perfectly sufficient place for a nightcap before returning to your room. It's still there as The Fitz, which bills itself as a contemporary Irish gastro-bar, inside the hotel at 687 Lexington Avenue, between 56th and 57th Streets^{3, 4}.
