History
Nearly five years dark, then martinis by the flight
In 2009 we noted that the Four Seasons' lobby lounge made a mean Manhattan at a mean $20, and by 2013 it was the hotel's bar famous for its martinis1. The hotel, open since 1993, closed at the start of the pandemic in early 2020, and it seems that what began as a closure for lack of demand turned into a contract dispute with Four Seasons over management fees2. It reopened on November 15, 2024, and the lobby bar is now Ty Bar, with a menu developed with the bartender and consultant Toby Maloney and billed as a liquid love letter to New York City2, 3, 4. The Infatuation called its Three Martini Lunch, a flight of mini dry, dirty and espresso martinis, a pretty fun gimmick and a decent deal at $413.
