We once said walking into The Australian was like being magically transported to a bog standard, always a bit too crowded pub in midtown Sydney. It was opened by Astill, who began selling it twelve years later¹. The Sydney Morning Herald reported on March 31, 2020, that it had closed early the month before, and that its new owners planned an Irish bar¹. The address is now The Westbury, an Irish sports bar open daily until 4am².
