History

When thirteen-dollar cocktails meant swank

Back then we called the Volstead a swank basement lounge, where an after-work and pre-theatre crowd in suits and ties yelled over eighties music and swilled thirteen-dollar cocktails. Time Out has since marked it closed¹. By December 2022 the retail space it once occupied had been empty since earlier in the pandemic².
