The wine bar hiding behind the cheese
Kashkaval Cheese Market & Wine Bar dates from 20041; when we listed it, the small cheese shop up front hid an attractive candlelit wine bar in back. After the landlord refused to renew the lease, the wine bar closed after service on May 24, 20142. The Kashkaval just next door, at 852 Ninth Avenue, stayed open, and that's the address Kashkaval's own site lists today1, 2. The old address, 856 Ninth Avenue, is now Blue Seafood Bar3.
