Overview
Neighborhood pub turns of $4 pints and awesome Philly chees steaks.
History
The cheesesteak was for Dad
This is the first Wogies, named for the owner's father, William Styer Hoffman1. We once praised its four-dollar pints and awesome cheesesteaks. The cheesesteaks, it turns out, were the point: the owner calls the place his way of remembering his dad by making a great Philly cheesesteak in the greatest city in the world1. It's still at 39 Greenwich Avenue, now with a second Wogies in the Financial District and, last we heard, a Katonah location in the works1, 2.
