History

Piano, pool and the occasional Broadway star

The Duplex is older than its address. It opened in 1951 and has been in its current location only since 19891. When we listed it, it had a sing-along piano bar, a pool table, a jukebox and New York's oldest cabaret theatre, plus the occasional Broadway star.

In May 2025 The Infatuation found it at 61 Christopher Street, the address we'd listed1. That August, Time Out called it the city's oldest cabaret, still going strong at 742.
