Overview

Yes it is a frat bar, but the crowd's more Animal house than Phi Beta Innate-Sense-of-Entitlement. And the beers cheap, and they've got Guinness on tap.

History

Beer pong in the backwoods of Second Avenue

Whiskey River came from the same owners as Gramercy's Black Bear Lodge, which explains the cabin-inspired decor1. The rustic saloon offered what Time Out called an unholy trinity of bar games (Big Buck Hunter, video bowling and beer pong), along with flat-screen TVs and 20 whiskeys1. When we listed it, we admitted it was a frat bar, and pointed out that the beer was cheap and the Guinness was on tap. Its Time Out listing now carries one more word: closed1.
