Overview

At a time when authenticity is fast becoming outmoded in New York, it's heartening see Jimmy's Corner packed to occupancy on a Tuesday night.

History

Still answering the bell

Jimmy Glenn, a boxing trainer and former amateur boxer, opened Jimmy's Corner on West 44th Street in 19711, 2. We were heartened to find it packed to occupancy on a Tuesday night, at a time when authenticity was fast going out of style in New York.

His son Adam Glenn has run the bar since 2015, and Jimmy Glenn died of COVID in 20201, 3. In 2025 Time Out found the son still enshrining his father's legacy there2.

In December 2025 the Durst Organization moved to evict the bar1. In February 2026 a judge temporarily halted the eviction proceedings while the lawsuit played out, and the bar was still standing3.
