History

Punctuality pays, by the pitcher

In 2010 a pitcher at Off the Wagon started at $3.50 and went up fifty cents every hour, which rewarded showing up early¹. A long wooden bar with plenty of beer on tap dominated the first floor, and upstairs were a second, smaller bar and two oversize Ping-Pong tables¹. We called it the frat bar du jour, and the jour has lasted: in October 2026 it was still on MacDougal Street, running a $10 beer-and-shot special every Friday night².
