History

A quarter century of Yankees fans, then the rent

Mickey Mantle's opened on Central Park South in 1988 and spent nearly 25 years as a sports bar popular with Yankees fans^{1, 2}. In April 2012 its owners needed to raise $1 million to cover back rent and other costs, or it might close³. It closed on June 5, 2012, having failed to pay its rent for months^{1, 2}.
