Still pouring

Checked October 15, 2026.

Overview

With over 150 beers, 130 scotches, and 60 tequilas you might be surprised to discover that the hardest part of placing an order isn't choosing the right drink, but finding a bartender who isn't too busy ignoring you to take your order.

History

Still no Bud, no Miller, no Coors

At d.b.a. it's still in writing: no Bud, no Miller, no Coors, no Corona1. Ray Deter and Dennis Zentek opened the bar in 19942, 3. In 2009 we counted over 150 beers, 130 scotches and 60 tequilas, and The Infatuation credits it with an impressive beer selection and an equally impressive backyard patio4.

Deter died in July 2011 of injuries from a bicycle crash1, 3. Zentek died on March 23, 20145, and that November EV Grieve reported that a familiar name was set to become the new owner3. In December it closed temporarily for renovations2, 6, and it reopened in January 20155.

It shut in March 2020 and didn't reopen until June 14, 20217. It's still pouring at 41 First Avenue, where a writer stopped in on August 18, 20261, 8.
