History

Twenty years of Southern fried Gramercy

Duke's was a roadhouse bar at 99 East 19th Street, and in 2009 we credited it with introducing Gramercy to the concept of low-key quality, by way of delicious, inexpensive Southern food1, 2. Its goodbye note said that after 20 years in the neighborhood it was closing, and that the Murray Hill Duke's, at 860 Third Avenue, would remain open1. The original Duke's had its last night on July 28, 20151.
