Overview

The upstairs may look like it's been ripped from a Pottery Barn catalog, but downstairs their's a cavernous lounge replete with disco ball, and a pool room. If it sounds schizophrenic that's because it is.

History

Pottery Barn upstairs, disco ball downstairs

Arlo and Esme was a cafe and a club at once, on East 1st Street, in the space the East Village Yacht Club had left behind1. We said the upstairs looked lifted from a Pottery Barn catalog while the downstairs had a disco ball and a pool room, and it never did pick one. It closed in December 2010, after about three years, and in the first days of January 2011 workers were emptying the room1, 2, 3.
