Overview

A gay bar so simultaneously friendly and edgy that it has become an East Village institution.

History

Friendly, edgy, and a few blocks north

The Cock opened on Avenue A in 19981, and by the time we reviewed it, at 29 Second Avenue1, we were calling it an East Village institution, friendly and edgy at once. In December 2015 it moved a few blocks north to 93 Second Avenue1. It returned to service there on June 24, 20211, and it's still pouring at 93 Second Avenue2.
