Overview

A co-owner of the Spotted Pig snapped up the former West spot, and created this velvet rope nautical themed dive bar. The beer is cheap and the food is low brow but shoots for the stars, and the sunset view is nothing short of spectacular.

History

A dive bar, with a velvet rope

The Rusty Knot was a nautical "dive bar" on the Hudson from Taavo Somer of Freemans and Ken Friedman of the Spotted Pig, and it took the Pig's overflow1, 2. Elaborate tiki cocktails devised by Toby Maloney, a Milk and Honey veteran, came in a room with bamboo bars, linoleum floors and pleather lounge chairs1, 3. We called it a velvet-rope dive where the beer was cheap, and that about covered it. Time Out readers named it a West Village favorite in 2014, and it has since closed1, 2.
