Overview

The drinks are exorbitant, but the wrap around rooftop view of Manhattan is priceless. Sleek and sexy Ava can be an impressive spot to take out of town guests or a date, but expect the place to be slammed on weekends.

History

The view was free; the drinks weren't

Ava was a bi-level penthouse lounge with white banquettes, wood paneling, erotic art and views of Times Square¹. We called its drinks exorbitant and its view priceless. It has since closed^{1, 2, 3}; in 2015, after a $20 million renovation, the hotel renamed itself Dream Midtown⁴, and it now runs as Dream Midtown by Hyatt⁵. Its rooftop went to PHD Terrace, which by 2016 had rotating DJs and $17 cocktails^{6, 7}; NYC Tourism now lists it as closed for renovations^{8, 9}.
