Overview

The nightclub Eugene has been rechristened The Madison (bar area) and Gypsy Tea (club area). The club is heavily promoted, and as a result the crowd can range from B to D list depending on the night. Cover is $20-$30. And there's the usual velvet rope "Who do you know?" nonsense.

The velvet rope comes down

The Madison was the nightclub Eugene under a new name, at 27 West 24th Street1. We noted at the time that the bar side was The Madison, the club side was Gypsy Tea, and the door came with the usual velvet-rope "Who do you know?" nonsense. What followed it there, the record doesn't make clear.
