History

New York's first TGI Fridays, then Baker Street

Before it was Baker Street Pub, 1152 First Avenue was the city's first TGI Fridays1, 2. The storefront has been a restaurant-bar since the 1960s3.

Baker Street Pub was gone by May 20213. In 2022 new owners opened Irregulars, also known as Baker Street Irregulars, in the same spot1, 2, 4, billing it as "Same UES location, new owners, better food, irregular vibe!"1. In 2025, what was first said to be a short-term shutdown for floor repairs ended with the bar handing over its keys2.

Ship of Fools is moving in next, aiming to open in January, and plans to fold a side window the previous business split off back into the restaurant4.
