History
A landmark bar, by invitation only
Guastavino's is a designated New York City Interior Landmark, now available exclusively for private events1, which makes it a hard bar to drop into.
In 1997 London's Conran Holdings signed a lease for 42,000 square feet for the Terence Conran Shop and 25,000 square feet for two restaurants, Guastavino's and Club Guastavino2. Guastavino's opened as a restaurant on Valentine's Day 2000, named after Rafael Guastavino2.
It didn't stay one for long. In November 2005 it reopened as an event space2, so by the time we listed its bar, a drink there came with an invitation. It's still at 409 East 59th Street1.
